Re: Good Red Hat install

sounds somewhat suspicious:) there are also other leenox distros available
like Debian (http://www.debian.org) which has "good" package-managing
system called apt, also people like Slackware (http://www.slackware.org).
If you want to try something else than Linux there are other options
aswell for *nix-like OS, FreeBSD (http://www.freebsd.org),
NetBSD (http://www.netbsd.org) and OpenBSD (http://www.openbsd.org).
For minimalistic systems, Minix (http://www.cs.vu.nl/~ast/minix.html).
*BSD's and Minix are free for download and they all got nice
documentations. examples and howtos.

Hey all,

I am trying to create a somewhat 'standard' install that I can use for
Red Hat. The main purpose for this box would to do scans (i.e. nmap) and
maybe packet generation to test our firewall. Now I don't have a lot of
Linux experience, but I want to install the minimal possible. The test
machine that I am using is an old p 233Mhz - so in other words the first
thing gone is the gui. Can anyone point me to some HOWTO or something like
that? Thanks

Matt
