there's a few ways to check to see what's going on with your server. You
can go throu the sus admin(make sure you've approved the updates that you
want) and check the sync status. If it's been synced then the server si
doing it's job. As far as the client goes, there's a couple ways to handle
the auto updates on the client machine. The easiest by far is using the
gpedit.msc command.
here's the steps (these steps are for running an XP client)
type gpedit.msc in your run prompt.
double click on the administrative templates subdirectory under computer
click on the windows components directory
double click on windows update
double click on configure automatic updates properties
click on the enabled button
select when you want to get updates. If you select 4 you will need to fill
in the two remaining day and time options.
click on next setting
click on enabled
now put in the name or the ip of your server that is running SUS (ie
http://SUSserver, or
put the same thing in the remaining box and click ok.
Reboot your client and then give it an hour or so.
To check to see what your client is doing go to you c:\windows directory
and look for a windows update.log file this will tell you when and where
updates were downloaded from.

Hope this helps.
