Security Basics: RE: Snort Basics

I just did the doc you mention with redhat9, worked awesome. Now to find out about rules and stuff... snort complains 
to much with a default install. LOL

Specfically, look under the documentation section, and the howto by 
Steven Scott.  He wrote a great howto that runs on uses ACID on RedHat 
9.  Also, the SNORT book, published by Syngress, has a great high-level 
view for beginners.
