Security Basics: Non-tech: Value of the field

Non-tech: Value of the field

Hello All

I have been looking at jobs on different sites for Security position and
seems they don't tend to be as well paid as DBA or Sys Admin jobs are.
Even specialized administration of WebLogic/WebSphere pays better.
What does that indicate? Corporates don't take it as seriously, even
with the growing threats or corporates choose to invest more on
automated tools and care less about hiring peronnels?
I have been working in the field for a while and have had an indecent
growth in the past and now looking forward to get certified to boraden
opportunities but wondering what's up with the industry as far as this
critical field is concerned.
Await opinions from this great group.
Regards
Aman Raheja
