: That movie was very well done... but many parts were unbelievable.
: Nevertheless it is one of the best little films that "no-one knows about".
:
: If I remember correctly, Mitnick claimed to be from Sun Microsystems on that
: call.
:
: IF Tsu ever did work for Sun, he might have possibly had access to their
: private IntraNET. That is where presumably he went to find out if the
: person claiming to be from Sun actually was. (Think employee

:
: To my knowledge, there is really no other way to check something like that
: unless you are already on the "inside" of an organization.

Ryan,

From watching the movie/documentary "Freedom Downtime" according to Eric Corley aka
"Emmanuel Goldstein" the editor of
2600 it wasn't very well done, or very accurate. They claim that there are a lot of
factual errors in it. Which
considering that they cater to the "Hacker community" it's understandable that they'd take
that stand.

In their movie/documentary they try to paint Kevin Mitnick as a "scapegoat" and that he
didn't really cause all of the
damage that he is/was accused of. And I'm sure that it comes as no surprise that
"Goldstein" and the majority of the
people who write to the magazine 2600 don't feel as IF computer crimes deserve the severe
punishments that are usually
handed out.
