aol vpn?

Today, I had a user make a request to install AOL client on his PC.
supposedly it will be work related since the person is a teacher and
will be communicating with students.
One of the tech pointed this article out. It's outdated, but it seems
that it's possible. I haven't tested it, and I was wondering if anyone
else seen this or know if this is still true.
