I think that this thread needs to be allowed to die with the consensus that this is a horrible idea (personal laptops 
in a HIPAA environment).

With all of the hoops one would have to jump through to make this work, maintain it, and remain compliant, it just 
cannot be worth the minuscule benefit they would get...
