Hello,

If you use gaim (sometimes) it shows you the private/public address of 
the person you are chatting.
I'm not sure but i think the ip address is included in messenger 
protocol, however Ymess doesn't have a function implemented to show the 
ip address.
That's the most logical and simple explanation. Do a test!
