Well, put Alex! But does anyone else on the list has experience tweaking smooth wall to generate emails based on attack
types or fw rules.

I am basically looking to see if this product is good or can I deploy other free products and get more out of them.
That largely depends on how much time you've got I'm afraid --
everything which Smoothwall is doing can be implemented in different
ways, using free tools. Whether you want to spend 2 weeks tinkering
about and implementing your 'perfect' setup is probably a cost:benefit
decision you need to make ;)
The most important question, in my opinion: does the product do what
you want, is it 99% there?
As to whether the product is good - only you can answer that :) That's
like asking, "How long is a piece of string?" or "What is the best
editor?" -- it will always cause people of different opinions to spout
"It's complete bollocks" vs "It's the best thing ever" and none of
those people are you, so it's pretty irrelevent spouting!
