Not 100% sure about connecting straight to a db but a word of warning: automated tools are only useful if you 
understand the underlying technology that makes them work. While SQL Inject Me might seem cool, it's somewhat lacking. 
The best thing would be to learn SQL yourself and learn injection techniques and then have at the server yourself.
