---------------------------------------------------------------------

1. Topic:

The Red Hat 7.0 dump is being released for Red Hat 6.x and Red Hat 5.x
in order to remove root setuid bits to prevent a known dump
exploit (#20111).

The new dump packages also include a fix for a buffer overflow (#9899)

2. Relevant releases/architectures:

Red Hat Linux 5.2 - i386, alpha, sparc
Red Hat Linux 6.2 - i386, alpha, sparc
Red Hat Linux 6.2EE - i386, alpha, sparc

3. Problem description:

Dump can be used to gain root access.

4. Solution:

For each RPM for your particular architecture, run:

rpm -Fvh [filename]

where filename is the name of the RPM.

5. Bug IDs fixed (http://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla for more info):

9899 - Linux dump buffer overflow
20111 - RH6.2 dump SUID exploit (via RSH env. var)
