There are a lot of different choice for Linux-related mailing lists,
so it depends on what you are interested in discussing. For instance,
if you are interested in a particular distribution of linux (say
Fedora) you should subscribe to their mailing list
(http://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/fedora-list). If you are
interested in technical discussions about kernel development, you
could subscribe to the linux-kernel mailing list.

If you are interested in following what is going on in Linux news, you
could also visit these sites:
http://www.linuxtoday.com/
http://lwn.net/

Good luck,
