During SMTP transmission there is an Envelope-To which indicates the
destination of the mail. It is usually invisible to the end user.

The To-header yo actually see in your mail reader is not of
significance for mail delivery.

BTW: This is the wrong list for SMTP issues. Go and read the RFCs
