Release of Honeyd-0.4
From: Niels Provos <provos () citi umich edu>
Date: Tue, 12 Nov 2002 18:41:00 -0500

Hi,

I am happy to announce the release of Honeyd-0.4, a small daemon that
creates virtual hosts on a network. The hosts can be configured to
run arbitrary services, and their TCP personality can be adapted so
that they appear to be running certain versions of operating systems.

The major changes are:

  Improved support for Nmap fingerprints:
   - Honeyd is more tolerant in reading incomplete fingerprints.

  Improved TCP Packet generation:
   - Nmap detects configued operating systems more reliably.

  Support for localhost network operation:
   - It is now possible to test honeyd on your local network interface.

Honeyd is available at

  http://www.citi.umich.edu/u/provos/honeyd/

Check the README in the tar file for further information. A FAQ is
available at

  http://www.citi.umich.edu/u/provos/honeyd/faq.html

Regards,
 Niels Provos.
