Note that ':.:' makes it use "current directory", which is probably not a
good idea, as it causes mysterious failures based on where you are cd'ed to
(most often manifesting as a program that usually works suddenly failing in
an odd way because it picked up an old library in '.').

Also, /usr/local/include should only have '*.h' files in it for the compiler,
and probably shouldn't be in LD_LIBRARY_PATH....
