type 0 == echo request
type 8 == echo reply

These most likely originated from the ping utility (or from tracert on a windoze box...)

I seriously wouldn't be worried about these messages, especially if you are providing some type of service through your firewall - ie www. The occasional ping is a fact of life on the internet. Some ISPs (Intermedia/Digex for example) will actually ping scan the subnets they provide to their customers (mainly teir 2 ISPs) to ensure that they are meeting the minimal usage amounts for addressing space.
