Yup. Any Internet-exposed FTP server that allows anonymous reading and
writing in the same directory will get eventually get tagged and start
getting warez libraries. That doesn't mean that it is hacked, though.

Thanks to both you and Harlan for your posts on this specific subject,
very interesting.
However, later in your post and in some other posts I read I saw strong
advocacy of this issue and I'd only like to state the obvious before it
becomes too smallish in this thread:
Just because it can be done without being owned, doesn't mean that the
guy wasn't [hacked]. it's not wise to cancel that option out completely.
