TWICE on 11/14
The following video was taken on 11/14:
From what I can gather, the cops were doing a random ID screening and
found this kid didn't have his ID. They asked him to leave and he
didn't immediately, but several minutes later was seen leaving the
library where he was grabbed. He protested to being touched (I'm
guessing because he was leaving anyway) so he got TASERED (rather
quickly it seems). Then the police asked him to get up and when he
didn't (because he had just been tasered??) they tasered him again.
The student's name is Mostafa Tabatabainejad, some sources claim he is
Iranian or of Iranian descent.
UCLA Chancellor released a statement where this was included:
"The safety of our campus community is of paramount importance to me.
Routinely checking student identification after 11 p.m. at the campus
library, which is open 24 hours, is a policy posted in the library that
was enacted for the protection of our students. Compliance is critical
for the safety and well-being of everyone."
The thing that really seems bizarre to me is that it looks like the kid
may be in cuffs BEFORE he was tasered, and sources claim he was already
leaving. I can understand being kicked out of the library if you don't
have your ID (though I can't believe they don't have a backup system to
check identification, especially since these are students... students
forget their IDs, idiots!!), but to be tasered after being cuffed, while
already leaving?? From the audio in the video the kid is cooperating
but doesn't want to be touched, so why was he tasered?
All I can think is this happened in OUR school system.
