New Service Helps Enterprises Quickly Respond To Security Breaches

Although companies are installing the latest high-tech burglar alarms to
thwart network attacks, many are not properly equipped to effectively
respond to break-ins when the alarms start going off.

Most companies lack a well-developed response program as well as the
expertise to respond to critical incidents, according to security experts.

To help companies avert and quickly recover from security breaches, Axent
Technologies yesterday launched its Incident Response and Recovery Service
for Fortune 1000 companies that have installed intrusion detection
systems. Axent is a maker of intrusion detection and risk assessment
tools.

Axent's independent subsidiary Secure Network Consulting will provide six
to eight weeks of comprehensive training, according to Drew Williams,
director of Axent's SWAT team.

During the four-phase training, SNC experts will help identify the
employees, partners, customers, information and business processes most at
risk; design procedures to shorten response time; implement best
practices; and train IT staff and executives in how to deal with breaches
by using real-life examples from similar businesses. -- Rutrell Yasin
