LONDON -- A team of Swedish computer buffs have fought off thousands
of rivals from around the world to crack what was billed as the
toughest code challenge ever set.
For those interested in more details the team that cracked the code has
published the following paper(s):
http://codebook.org/codebook_solution.html
http://codebook.org/codebook_solution.pdf
http://codebook.org/codebook_solution.ps
http://codebook.org/codebook_solution.dvi
One of the really interesting developments was that the Swedish team where
able to use a dual processor Alpha DS20 with 4GB main memory for the number
field sieve, a task which was previously thought to require a supercomputer.
Clem.
