150 extremist websites exposed this year - Russian police

MOSCOW, April 24 (Itar-Tass) - Russia's Interior Ministry exposed 150
extremist and terrorist websites this year, head of the department
Rashid Nurgaliyev told reporters on Tuesday.
"More than half the sites were found in foreign segments of the
Internet," Nurgaliyev said.
The Russian segment has 72 such sites the USA - 49, the Netherlands -
six, Germany - five and Great Britain's - four.
The information on the above sites in foreign segments of the Internet
has been forwarded to law-enforcement bodies of these countries, the
Russian interior minister said.
He called for "pooling efforts in developing uniform mechanisms of
preventing the use of the global information and telecommunication space
for spreading the ideology of terrorism."
"It is necessary to develop international cooperation with the view of
resolving the complex problem of information security and fight against
cyber terrorism, including the working out of a frame of reference and
legal tools," he emphasized.
"That is way it is necessary that businesses and public organizations
join the efforts to counteract terrorism and its ideology," Nurgaliyev
said.
