VALLEY NEWS DISPATCH
June 20, 2008
Police are investigating the theft from an RIDC Park company of a
computer that contained software used to manage water and power plants.
An Emerson Process Management spokeswoman said the information is
proprietary but it wouldn't help terrorists seeking to disrupt systems.
"It's a highly valued computer and software, but this is not a Homeland
Security matter," said spokesman Susan Comiskey.
She said the items - worth about $73,000 - were taken off a loading dock
by a security officer employed by Securitas, an international firm based
in Parsippany, N.J. The company has a Pittsburgh regional office at
Parkway Center.
U.S. Homeland Security spokeswoman Amy Kudwa said national security
probes are conducted by federal agencies such as the FBI. She doesn't
know about any such investigation involving the local theft.
