Nmap Development: nmap gtk requirement

Hi, all. Upon 'make-install'ing nmap, during the process I'm given the line
'configure: WARNING: Gtk+ has not been installed -> nmapfe will not be installed'
and it then proceeds to go into an infinite loop. All this despite the fact that
I have Gtk+ (or most of it) installed. Specifically which parts of Gtk+ does nmap
look for? This would be most appreciated.
