Nmap Development: Favorite way to run Nmap...

Greetings,

I am writing a program that serves as an nmap frontend. One of the more unique 
features (in my opinion at least) is that you can have various nmap 
configurations (profiles). Unfortunately, I'm not too sure what would be the 
best defaults for this. Any ideas/comments would be greatly appreciated.
