Julien, that's a well done description. as far as having a daemon on
the back-end, why not simply use cron to schedule the scans?
Louis, as far as ncat/nping is concerned -- I had actually applied
based upon that. Alas, I was not accepted. I'd still like to work on
the project, though. It honestly fits better with my schedule as I am
employed full-time.
You are certainly welcome to! You might want to start by looking at
Nmap-Ncat at http://sourceforge.net/projects/nmap-ncat/ . Also, you
(like everyone else on this list) are welcome and encouraged to help
out the current SoC students. They have very ambitious projects and
will be regularly soliciting feedback, testing, ideas, etc. You have
probably already seen a lot of that if you have been following the
list.
