I'm not sure what you are suggesting here.

I believe Ron means that os_scan2 tells the user something cryptic
if the user isn't root. Something in the lines of getsomething()
couldn't get fingerprint. That is not the case any more since
the r00t absence is caught in the argument parsing section
and not in the os_scan2() section. The os_scan2 option is
not set unless you are root but if the option is set and you are
not root for some reason then you get a strange error message.
