Hi Peter,
What kind of hardware platforms are we dealing with (i.e. Is this
Solaris 8 box on Sparc or x86)? Irix on what kind of SGI rig?

if you do nmap -A -vvv <target>, how does that look? You may also want
to try nmap -A -vvv --packet-trace <target> > nmap_output.

Off the cuff, my guesses would be hardware-, nic driver-, or
pcap-related. Not necessarily in that order. For the sake of argument,
I'm assuming that both systems are connected at the same speed, are
they? If they're on the same network, are they on the same switch
fabric? same number of hops between them and their target?

Anybody else have input?

Best Regards,
Justin
