That would be a good idea - I had hours of hair pulling when I first was
setting visual studio (expr. edn.) up!

Mingw you say, I like the sound of that and I'll have a go. One step at
a time though, I want to conquer this cygwin thing because it used to
compile nmap with UMIT with no (well, not many) problems... Thanks for
the tip! (and: every day's a school day)
