Regarding errors with Firefox versions, you need to have a section
similar to this in your "install.rdf" file:

<em:targetApplication>
    <Description>
        <em:id>{your-extension-id-here}</em:id>
        <em:minVersion>1.0</em:minVersion>
        <em:maxVersion>2.0.0.*</em:maxVersion>
    </Description>
</em:targetApplication>

Have a look at other extensions for examples
