Hi Sara,
The error message that Nmap gave you was a bit of a clue, I think you
probably meant to run the command:
nmap -sT -O 10.168.x.x
By forgetting to put a - before the O you were asking Nmap to scan the
hostname O, which failed to be resolved.

Subject: is it possible to scan a router ip?
I tried to scan a router ip 10.168.x.x. I got an error. Can anyone
tell me how to do that?
nmap -sT O 10.168.x.x (changed to x for privacy reasons)
Starting Nmap 4.65 ( http://nmap.org ) at 2008-06-22 00:46 IDT
Failed to resolve given hostname/IP: O. Note that you can't use
'/mask' AND '1-4,7,100-' style IP ranges
