Nmap Development: NmapProblem

Hi, I have recently downloaded Nmap. It is the first time I'm using it. I got windows vista. I downloaded the whole 
thing together (along with WinpCap)...didn't work, then, uninstalled and installed each component individually...didn't 
work. I keep getting the following message when trying to scan my other computer in my network:

Initiating Ping Scan at 14:01

dnet: Failed to open device eth14

QUITTING!

Please help!
