Also, since you weren't explicit either way, may I suggest keeping the Nsock
functionality there so that Ncat or any other Nsock-utilizing program to come
about can use it if desired?  Or should it go too until the need arises?

My suggestion is to remove it from the current revision.  The beauty
of SVN (and mailing list archiving) is that the sort of people who
would be competent enough to find the function burried in the source
code in the first place can easily retrieve it from svn and put it
back later if desired.  That way people don't have to download and
compile unused code, and we don't have to maintain it.  You could
always leave a comment about SO_DEBUG where the function was so people
know where to get it if desired.
