The option to do that with Ncat is -d (--delay), not -i.

Oh I see. Thank you for explaining this. 

Should Ncat's reads from stdin be linewise? I think that's possible, we 
just have to include a check against lines of unbounded length.

That would be great. It would allow to talk to telnet servers (like my
router) through batch files.
