Status Report #11 of 17
From: "Luis M." <luis.mgarc () gmail com>

Hi!

It's already week 11! Currently Nping is capable of doing quite a lot
of things but it is still far from being complete. I'll continue
working as usual. Here are some of the accomplishments of last week
and priorities for this week:

Accomplishments:

* Added functions that allow to perform DNS resolution and cache
  the results so subsequent attemps to resolve hostnames don't
  elicit extra DNS queries on the net.
* Added preliminar host resolution. Now, all user-supplied targets
  are resolved before we start sending probes.
* Reorganized functions, classes, etc that were taken from nmap's
  code but had to be somehow modified to allow reuse. All of them
  have been placed in file common_modified.c/h
* Added class that represents Data Link layer protocols and class
  EthernetHeader for Ethernet
* Started writing Nping man page
* Improved the way net interface and source IP address is determined.
* Improved user privilege detection and error reporting.
* Fixed some bugs in NpingOps.
* Started adding new "UDP Unprivileged" mode.
* Fixed some bugs.
* Had a meeting with Fyodor.
* Scheduled next meeting.

Priorities:

* Continue working on Nping man page.
* Fix a bug related to option -e handling.
* Finish Ethernet protocol implementation.
* Finish UDP Unprivileged mode implementation.
* Implement ARP and RARP modes.

Regards,

Luis.
