Nmap Hackers: nmap-web 1.6 released ...

nmap-web 1.6 released ...

From: Alek O. Komarnitsky (N-CSC) <alek_at_ast.lmco.com>
Date: Tue, 05 Sep 2000 17:09:20 -0600 (MDT)

FYI FWIW: I've released version 1.6 of nmap-web, which is a "nifty"
CGI/Perl interface to nmap - some info/screenshots/tarball at:
   http://www.komar.org/komar/alek/ -> Misc. Tech Stuff -> nmap-web
It's pretty darn easy to install (you need nmap, Perl, and a Web Server)
and trivial for you/others to use via the point-n-click web interface.

Changes from version 1.5 are:
   - Modify version query code to use table lookups instead of code stubs
   - Add ability to just show ALL lines that come back from port query
   - Add support to query port 515 for LPD version
   - Few other minor bug/documentation fixes
NOTE: The "versioning" features of nmap-web are VERY SIMPLE compared to
some of the recent discussions about NMAP+V. Remember that nmap-web is
oriented toward "white-hats" (particularly useful IMHO at large sites where
one can quickly/easily identify "renegade" machines that are outa sync).
So it focus' on the most commonly used ports and does not attempt to be
stealthy ... so be-forwarned that any decent IDS will notice nmap-web.
When nmap itself fully supports versioning, I suspect nmap-web will
simply layer on top of that functionality.

As always, any comments/suggestions/etc. are appreciated,
alek

P.S. I just tested it today with NMAP 2.54BETA4 and works fine;
although since it depends on the machine readable output that
doesn't change much, it should work fine with any release after 2.52.
