Tim,
Haven’t spoken in a bit, been traveling and the like. We’ve had many conversations about tools like ‘puppet’, ‘chef’,
PowerShell ‘DSC’, and now Ansible. I would say that if you have already deployed one of these tools you can use that as
your CMDB source. For example if you had puppet enterprise you would have a CMDB already, or if you had Puppet
OpenSource you could use PuppetDB to start building your own CMDB. PuppetDB
(http://docs.puppetlabs.com/puppetdb/latest/configure.html) can use HSQLDB or PostgreSQL as its datastore. You might be
able to use some simple relational database mappings to help you along. Its not out of the box, but I like scale. I
know those tools scale. LanSweeper and CMDB will only scale if the people scale. They are not designed to elastically
grow in dynamic environments. Just things to think about as devices come on and leave the network.

if you are interested in using Ansible: http://docs.ansible.com/intro_inventory.html and
http://docs.ansible.com/intro_dynamic_inventory.html and http://docs.ansible.com/developing_inventory.html

The limit is what you make of it. Happy to help :)

I use the paid version of Lansweeper. It provides copious amounts of data and reporting, depending on the your level
of network access (AD, SNMP, SSH, etc.). It will do everything you listed and much more.

Thank you!
