Well, I must say that the producers of most of the more expensive
devices in this category have thought of what you planned to do long
ago:)

There are some other things you have to take into account, like
surface electric resistance, subtle temperature patterns, changes in
shape of the fingerpring because of stronger or lighter pressure and
some more, hard to replicate, factors.

But good luck - with the cheaper devices :))
