RE: Laptop Considerations

Atheros (from Google for "atheros linux"):
http://sourceforge.net/projects/madwifi/

Intel "Centrino" (from Google for "centrino linux"):
http://ipw2100.sourceforge.net/
http://ipw2200.sourceforge.net/
http://support.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/CS-006059.htm
http://support.intel.com/support/notebook/sb/CS-006408.htm

I use the ipw2100 daily. Only problem is monitor mode was flaky last I
checked.

I've used the Atheros driver, and it worked, but I couldn't get the
Turbo/Super modes working, so 54Mbps only. Things may have changed
since I last looked at it. I never tried monitor mode with it.

some of you mentioned that they have 802.11a cards working under
linux! All the 802.11a cards I've come across used Atheros chipsets,
and I couldn't find linux drivers for any of them. How about you guys?

also, did any of you find drivers for these intel chipsets that
built-in with few laptops.
