Or stunnel to tunnel almost anything through SSL. :)
Quick example to just use it to connect to a SSL website:

  $ stunnel -c -r webserver:443
  HEAD / HTTP/1.0
  
  HTTP/1.1 200 OK
  Server: Microsoft-IIS/5.0
  Content-Location: https://10.0.10.12/index.html
  Date: Tue, 10 Feb 2004 10:07:37 GMT
  Content-Type: text/html
