Re: Test scripts for NIDS

Hi all,

I'm looking for tools that can test the effectiveness of an NIDS like:

- How much load can it take before dropping packets ?
- What attacks can it detect or not detect

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Tcpreplay from sourceforge.net will replay tcpdump files on to the wire
at variable speeds (or as fast as it can go). Assuming you have attack
signatures in tcpdump format it serves both purposes (NIDS testing is what
tcpreplay was orignally developed for).
