Re: Wireless Cards for pen testing?

Lol. Deth by typo, that's awesome (I wish I could claim that was on
purpose). Though I do love Jason's reply the best!

Richard Feist asked:
How do you handle testing across different 802.11 specs ie 802.11 a/b/g
with out without the various manufacturers extra's like 'speedboost'

Most 802.11b cards work off the same frequency as 802.11g (2.4 GHz)
but 802.11a operates on 5 GHz. So you would need an 802.11a card if
you want to test for that infrastructure. As for 'speedboost' it makes
no difference in scanning for AP's.

Sean had a good note in that you will want a couple of antenna's (at
least one omni and one directional). The higher the db the better. If
you need connectors you can get them easily at

Its grammar, dimwit. I don't speak English natively, would you like me to
nitpick your second language? That's considering you have gone to college,
because I don't see any effect of education on you.

Here are the cards I use:
Cisco Aironet, SMC2532W-B, an old Compaq WL110 and Proxim 8470WD. You
will also want a GPS, the one I picked up is the Pharos GPS-360 that
ships with MS Streets & Maps. A book on English spelling and grammer
is also good.
