One can use NetCraft (www.netcraft.com) to identify a web server if it is

How can one identify a mail server behind a firewall, be it Exchange,
GroupWise, or Lotus Notes?
Send it a mail to an obviously non existent address. Read the headers of
the bounce.
Connect on port 25, and issue non SMTP commands. Read the SMTP greeting
banner.
