Dunno, but I always recommend other punctuations instead of space for
long passphrases, for example "I-know-something-you-don't-know". No
space, no pain.... except while attempting to brute it perhaps...

under most circumstances you will see a '*' if you hit the space key.

space is IMO not a bad character for a password:  independent of the
keyboard layout (some people seem to use not US kbds) it's always at the
same place. secondly the majority of rainbowtables for download don't
contain spaces.
