GSM and A5/1

Hello list,

I want to ask what's the current status of A5/1 cracking tools.
Theoretically speaking, it has been cracked since 98-99. And the A5
cracking project aims to develop a proof of concept tools to crack a5/1
in real time. But I wonder if someone had already managed to develop
such tools, because a friend told me there are already such out there.

Also, has someone of you guys conducted a pen-test on a gsm system?
