an observation

Hello all,
I have been reading the email from the listing with great interest. One observation that I see is many of the email are coming from newbies in the pen-test. Some of the question have been great one. As for what I am asking from the community is how does one get back into a position that does pen-test, security monitor, and continue education? I have taken the wrong path on just having a position to survive from the dot com bust to a position that I love to get back into. I have been in the computer field for a long time that I have forgotten more then I have learn.

Thank you for reading this.
