WASHINGTON, DC, U.S.A. (NB) -- By Robert
MacMillan, Newsbytes. Anti-Internet taxation group
the E-Freedom Coalition on Dec. 12 plans to ask
every candidate in the 2000 presidential race to sign
a pledge taking an official stance against any form of
new Internet taxation. At least one candidate,
Arizona Sen. John McCain, R, is likely to support
such a pledge, if a speech he gave today against
Internet taxation is any indication.
The E-Freedom Coalition at a press conference
this November unveiled a proposal for the
congressionally appointed Advisory Commission on
Electronic Commerce (ACEC) that would strip the
Internet of all taxes. The coalition includes several
ACEC members, including Stanley Sokul and
Americans for Tax Reform President Grover Norquist.
