hello declan,

i was disturbed to see this story, posted to indymedia.org today. under the
title "reason to be paranoid: a personal experience," the piece, apparently
by an arab man named ali kemal, told of him being stopped upon entering the
us and interrogated by a government agent. after allegations of involvement
with various muslim groups, which kemal denied, the agent produced imc and
other posts, which kemal says he always posted pseudonymously.
he was eventually allowed to enter, to find that his family traveling with
him had also been questioned, including his daughter who was asked if he
had ever touched her inappropriately.
this appears to represent concrete evidence of tactics of the increasingly
impudent "national security" apparatus, whereby posters to 'suspect' sites
are monitored for objectionable opinions, and are continually under threat
of future legal action- stymieing freedom of speech, and diminishing democracy.

the story is here:

some of the comments are interesting too... what do you think?

best,
[Anonymous]
ps- please keep me anon; thanks.
