Posted by Colin Vallance on May 23
Interesting that it's got an amplifier on there. I wonder if that was
being used for a long range link or just falling prey to the concept that
more power = more range. I'll save the rant for now but I can get in to
detail if anyone wants ;)
hydra and HTTP NTLM

Posted by Robin Wood on May 23
Anyone know how to use the new HTTP NTLM feature in Hydra? I'm trying
to brute force a MS Front Page login which only asks for
authentication when the OPTIONS method is used as far as I can tell.

Posted by Tony Turner on May 23
I built in-vehicle computers for a fleet of 10 disaster response F-350s for FL Depth of Health about 3 years ago. I
used this case with a Zotac board and SSD to combat vehicle vibration. My biggest beef with the case was the size of
the holes allowed a lot of dust and debris inside. I mounted under the seat and installed USB/sound/SD/etc port
replicator in the dash which resolved the issues. I do like the case but my next AP will definitely be...
£250 on ebay.

Posted by Robin Wood on May 23
A slightly different approach, how about one of the Fon/Open Mesh type
devices (don't know which support 802.11a but sure some must) and one
of these as a switch:

http://www.scan.co.uk/products/8-port-eten-pw-108-pocket-size-metal-casing-10-100-switch-usb-powered-lan-party!

They are really nice solid metal 8 port switches which run off USB or
mains so if you can find a Fon with USB port you power that and piggy
back the switch power. They...

Posted by Jim Halfpenny on May 23
We've been using Ruckus ZoneFlex APs for a while. They have 2.4 and 5 GHz
radios, internal antenna with good range and four switch ports. You can use
a mains adapter or PoE to power them. The downside is probably going to be
price.

Posted by Chris Keladis on May 22
I guess the slight gotchya with APs that do 2.4GHz as well as 5 GHz is
few do both simultaneously.

Whichever AP you decide on (and assuming you would prefer both radio's
to be available at the same time),
this may be something you want to ask.

Posted by Ray Davidson on May 22
Similar price point to the Alix system, and not as compact, but more ports. The case has a "hidden" section with 2 USB
right?)

Posted by Kevin Shaw on May 22
I was thinking along the same lines, like a build-your-own or perhaps
cutting apart a couple of commercial v routers, hacking them together and
custom fitting into a pelican case for which antennas and ports become
exposed when open. You need it protected in transit then moderately on
site, right?

All the rugged ones I have ever encountered - Cisco and Meraki - did not
have switch ports, but they may have models so equipped.

Posted by Joshua Wright on May 22
I'm hoping someone can recommend a durable AP for use in demos and
travel. I typically carry a few Linksys WRT's, or newer E4200's, but
between my leaving home or a hotel and getting home, they are frequently
