Actually, it will be true.  Eventually it will be a highly commoditized
business to "guard" network security.  Of course the people who design,
install, and maintain the security systems, especially high-security or
custom systems get paid significantly more than the guards.

Of course this commodity model depends on the maturity of an industry.  The
physical premises to guard don't change dramatically anymore.  They may get
taller or wider or build from somewhat different materials, but all the same
principles still apply.  I believe in network security we are nowhere near
that maturity level yet, and the foundations on which we must base our
network security change daily--as often as the network.  Until that settles
down, we will remain an immature industry demanding highly skilled and
adaptive personnel.
