Re: Hijack IP address on cable modems

in defense of @home

I wouldnt say the company as an entire is dumb your prob just spoke to a
tech person who was not up on the facts. Also lets look at this.

the ip you are grabbing is not a static ip as it is in the dhcp range thus
you are grabbing fro dhcp. You are setting a dhcp address to a static
address on your machine but not on the server

hmm maybe he was correct in that you can only grab from dhcp.
i wouldnt be so quick to call someone dumb

It is true at least with @home. All you have to do is manually put in
another IP address and U assume that user on the cable modem network. @home
response was "Static IP address wont work. You can only get a valid IP from
DHCP. That shows that 1 they are that dumb and don't know about networking.
Or 2 They think everyone else is dumb. Either way it works for me.
